A craft a day. An ambitious goal, seeing as how we rarely do crafts beyond coloring with crayons...but we're gonna try! 1 down, 30 to go...
Today's craft, Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments
Step 1: have 3 year old gather random objects that she thinks we will need for the craft
Maya thought it was very important that we drink pretend tea before we got started |
Step 2: mix equal parts cinnamon and applesauce
add a little glue to help stabilize the ornaments |
Step 3: roll out ornament dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper
we actually found that this made it more difficult and ended up using our hands, but check out Maya's face. I had to include these pictures! :) |
Step 4: gather cookie cutters
Step 5: make sure cookie cutters taste ok
Step 6: cut our ornaments
Step 7: place ornaments on cookie sheet and let dry at room temperature, or speed up the process by drying them in the oven at 200 degrees for a couple of hours
We poked holes in the ornaments for ribbon using straws, but I took this picture before that was done |
A super bonus of this project (if you bake them in the oven) is that it makes your house smell SUPER yummy and Christmassy! Yay!
More to come!

This post made me laugh. I especially like, "have toddler gather random items" (or something like that, I'm going from memory), and of course Maya's face when rolling out the dough was priceless! Good luck with the challenge! We're going on day three of trying to finish ONE craft. Isabella gets started and then says she tired of painting or whatever it is. Hmmmm, hopefully we don't have problems when she starts school. I can see it now, Isabella's teacher calls and says, "Isabella wouldn't finish her math test because she was tired of doing it." Okay so I might not blame her for that, but you know what I mean!
